The Category

Supplements packaging is where compliance meets commerce.

Supplements is one of the fastest-growing consumer categories in North America — and one of the most regulated. FDA labeling requirements, child-resistant closures, tamper-evident seals, accurate fill weights, serialization, country-of-origin, Proposition 65. A great supplement can be killed by a packaging compliance miss that doesn't get caught until the product is on a Whole Foods shelf.

Brands need a packaging partner who treats compliance as the baseline, not the upsell. Knockout sources primary containers — CR bottles, blisters, stickpacks, sachets — and produces the secondary cartons, labels, and shippers that go with them. Compliance is engineered in, not bolted on. One accountable partner from bottle to box to Amazon FBA pallet.

What We Package

Primary and secondary, compliance-ready by default.

Supplements packaging has more regulatory overhead than beauty, more format variety than food, and more fulfillment complexity than almost any consumer category. We build the whole system — from the CR bottle to the induction seal to the outer carton to the Amazon-compliant shipper.

Primary Packaging

What goes in the consumer's hand.

  • HDPE bottles with child-resistant closures (CR caps)
  • PET and glass bottles for liquid supplements and tinctures
  • Induction seals and tamper-evident closures
  • Blister packs and PTP (push-through) formats for daily doses
  • Stickpacks, sachets, and single-serve pouches
  • Scoops, desiccant pods, and cotton packing
  • Droppers and pipettes for liquid and sublingual formats
Secondary Packaging

What gets the product to shelf and home.

  • Folding cartons with FDA-compliant structural design
  • Printed labels — full-wrap, pressure-sensitive, shrink sleeves
  • Tamper-evident carton seals and neck bands
  • Blister carton wallets and multi-dose packs
  • FSC-certified paperboard with recyclability claims
  • Amazon FBA-ready shippers and prep services
  • Master cases, display trays, and retailer-compliant shippers

"Supplements brands that piece together packaging across three or four suppliers spend half their launch debugging handoffs. One accountable partner is the difference between a clean launch and a recall risk."

Who We Work With

Who we build supplements packaging for.

Our supplements clients cover the full landscape of the category — from DTC subscription brands to professional-channel brands to contract manufacturers running fills for multiple customers. What they share: high stakes on compliance, real pressure on margins, and a preference for partners who move faster than traditional pharma packaging channels.

01
Indie and emerging supplements brands — launching first or second SKUs, often without a dedicated regulatory team, needing a partner who knows the compliance requirements cold.
02
Established DTC and subscription supplements brands — scaling SKU counts, optimizing unit economics, and managing Amazon FBA and 3PL fulfillment complexity.
03
Contract manufacturers and co-mans — handling fills for multiple supplements brand clients, needing a packaging partner who can manage components and secondary while they focus on the fill. Our Strategic Partner Program is built for this.
04
Professional and practitioner-channel brands — selling through clinics, chiropractors, and naturopaths, with stricter packaging standards than retail.
05
Retail-listed supplements brands — Whole Foods, Sprouts, GNC, Vitamin Shoppe, Target, Amazon — with channel-specific compliance and fulfillment requirements.
Challenges We Solve

The supplements packaging problems that create compliance risk.

01

Child-resistant compliance without application friction.

CR closures are required on most supplements but notoriously hated by consumers — especially aging consumers who make up a large share of supplement buyers. We specify certified CR closures that meet regulatory requirements without creating open-the-bottle complaints that drive returns.

02

Label compliance and FDA guidelines.

Supplement Facts panel, allergen callouts, health claims language, country of origin, lot and expiration date placement — label compliance is unforgiving. We coordinate label structural specs and print production so regulatory requirements are built into the design, not discovered in a warning letter.

03

Contract manufacturer coordination.

Supplements brands almost always use a contract manufacturer. Packaging has to arrive at the CM ready to run on their specific fill line, with the right bottle neck, the right closure torque, the right label orientation. Knockout coordinates CM specs directly so packaging doesn't delay the fill.

04

Amazon FBA and e-commerce readiness.

A large share of supplements now sells through Amazon, which has its own packaging, labeling, and shipper requirements. We build Amazon FBA-ready packaging with correct barcode placement, suffocation warnings where required, and shipper specifications that pass FBA intake.

05

Sustainable supplements packaging that still protects the product.

Supplements formulas are moisture-sensitive, oxygen-sensitive, and light-sensitive. Sustainability commitments can't compromise product stability. We source PCR HDPE, FSC paperboard, and recyclable closure systems that meet sustainability goals without breaking product integrity.

Our Process

The Packaging Playbook, mapped to a supplements launch.

Every project moves through six stages. For supplements, the stage-specific watchpoints are CR compliance, label compliance, contract-manufacturer fill-line specs, and fulfillment readiness.

Supplements Partnership Model

Built for contract manufacturers and brand-side operators.

The Reality

Most supplements brands work through contract manufacturers — and the packaging handoff between brand, CM, and supplier is where launches go sideways. Incompatible bottle necks. Label orientation mismatches. CR closures that fail the CM's torque spec. Induction seals that don't bond to a particular bottle stock.

How We Build For It

Knockout works directly with your CM on packaging coordination — specifying to their fill-line requirements, managing the component delivery schedule against their production window, and solving the handoff problems before they become fill-line stoppages. For CMs running fills for multiple supplements brand clients, our Strategic Partner Program gives you a packaging coordination layer you can offer as a value-add to your own customers.

FAQ

Supplements packaging questions we get asked.

Structured for answer-engine and generative-engine visibility. Each Q/A pair is self-contained and schema-ready.

What's the minimum order quantity for supplements packaging? −
Depends on format. Stock HDPE bottles with CR closures and custom labels can run from 5,000 to 10,000 units. Custom-tooled bottles start higher, typically 25,000+ units. Custom folding cartons start at 2,500 to 5,000 units. We build realistic MOQs into Discovery so you know what's possible before design starts.
